Always

Using what little Valentine paper that I had left over after making the cards for Sage's class I made this cute but simple little card. Paper is from K&Company, ribbon is from Walmart, image is from SU!.

Embossed Birthday Card

This textured birthday card was total embossed using an embossing folder from Tim Holtz. I love the clock motif and thought it was rather funny as a birthday card. tag was made using a Stampin Up! stamp and punches. The gold ribbon was a wonderful score from Walgreen on an after Christmas clearance sale.

Fleur and Wallpaper

As many of you know I am huge fan or repurposing, recycling and reusing. I have been known to dumpster dive and if I had a house big enough and enough time I would rarely have trash to take out because most things would be repurposed. However I have to be realistic in that I can't save every cereal box and container that comes into the house. But I do love using things from thrift stores and this card features one such find in the ribbon. Image is from SU!, background paper is recycled wallpaper, which is also from the thrift store. Not sure what brand the cardstock is.

One Little Word Challenge Week 8

Good lord I have been bad about keeping the challenges updated. I promise there are pictures coming for this week and the last couple of weeks. Things have just not worked out so that I could get them taken, uploaded and posted.

Here is this weeks inspiration picture:

Another Total Embossed Card

Here is another card that I put together and then ran the whole thing through my Big Shot in an embossing folder. The ribbon is recycled and the tag was made using a Stampin Up! stamp. On a side note: If you purchase SU! punches treat them with extreme care. While EK Success is the company that makes them for SU! they can not do anything about warrenty issues. I have had three of my SU! punches now have issues and SU! will not replace, refund, or credit for those punches even though EK Success tells me that they are covered under warrenty.

Faux Smash Journal

Recently my mother and I were walking around Michael's when I noticed that they finally had Smash items in stock. I asked my mother if she had seen them. When she said no I led her over to the display and started showing her what they were. At first she did not know what to use them for so I explained. Once I explained to her that they were great for travel memories she got excited because she was getting ready to go on a trip and thought that the journal would be a great way to record her adventure. Then she looked at the price tag and said forget it.

That is when I should have quietly walked away. My mother then turns to me and says, "Laurie, couldn't you make me something like this?". My answer, "why, yes mom I could, why do you ask"? And then I got the look. You know the one that says your parent is about to ask you to do something for them.

So as you can see I caved and made this faux smash journal for my mother. I had her go through my HUGE stack of DCWV papers and pull out the ones that she liked the best. I then cut and placed each paper to a page in a spiral notebook that I had modified. I added some stickers and pockets as well but left most of the pages free and clear for her journaling and memorabilia.

Wallpaper!

Ok everyone confession time! I love love love wallpaper! I love using it in my scrapbooking, I love the feel and the texture. This card features some wallpaper that I found at the Idaho Youth Ranch. Playing Around with Bohemian Texture

The more I look at this card the more I wish I had not screwed up the ink edging. There were actually three flowers that were suppose to be on this card but when I was inking the edges I accidentally inked more than I should have thus destroying one of the flowers. So the card only features two flowers.

Adventures in Embossing

So I have been playing around with my Sizzix Big Shot lately and I made this lovely little card by running the whole card through my Sizzix in an embossing folder. Inside the card I adhered a piece of non-embossed white cardstock so that whoever uses this card will have a non-bumpy surface to write on. I am really happy with how this card turned out. The image/sentiment is SU! and the ribbon is some that I got at the Idaho Youth Ranch and recycled into the card.

Jaimie's Birthday Present

Warning Picture Heavy Post!

For my sister Jaimie's recent birthday I gifted her with a custom mini album. She loves the color blue so I used that as my starting point.

Joy

We don't get alot of snow here in Idaho, at least not down in the valley. So there are not alot of chances to build snowmen. In fact I am not sure why anyone around here bothers to shovel their driveway because usually the snow is gone in less than a day. So when I want my "snow fix" I pull out my snow and Christmas stamps.

This image is from Stampin Up!, paper is from DCWV, and the red ribbon is from Walmart.

Dawn's Birthday Mini Album

First things first, I was going to do a video for this mini album. Sadly my batteries died before I could get it done and before Dawn's party. (BTW people if you want a card or a gift for your birthday you are going to have to send lots of reminders that it is coming up otherwise I forget.) Anyways this is the one photo I have of the album with Dawn holding it. The extremely glittered front was done by covering the album with Modge Podge (One of these days I will actually care how that is spelled) and then a thick layer of glitter was added to the top. When that had dried I then went over the glitter with another layer of the Modge Podge to seal the glitter in so it would not flake off.

Spring is Coming

Can you feel it in the air? Is your lawn starting to turn from that ugly dry brownish yellow color into a healthy green? If not then I feel for you. Here in Idaho things are slowly (very slowly) starting to turn green. My flowers and bushes are starting to come back. And with spring that means that spring holidays are just around the corner. So for your viewing pleasure an Easter card.

I realised after I had placed all the elements on the card that the slightly rumpled look to the ribbon actually detracts from the card rather than adding to it. I was going for a bit of shabby chic and came away with looks like it just rolled out of bed. Despite the ribbon though I like the way this card fell together color wise.

One Little Word Challenge Week 6

Here is this weeks challenge picture:

And here is what I did:

Blarg....

Ok so I am going to level with all of you. I did do something but not till Sunday and to be honest this week is kinda I don't give a dang about being bohemian.

Why?

Well as you all noticed this got posted several days after when it was suppose to be posted. The reason is we have been dealing with a family tragedy and may again in the next few days unless things get better. I won't burden all of you with details but needless to say it has made my desire to update my blog very small this week. Thankfully I scheduled several blog posts already.

Kid's Classroom Valentines

I made the Valentine cards for both my kid's classes this year. The first one for Anthony's class. He picked out all the colors and patterns. The second one is for Sage's class and she let me pick out the colors and paper. What is funny about these is that while the ones for Sage's class were made with Valentine themed paper Anthony's are not. The reason? Apparently I have next to nothing in themed holiday paper with the exception of Christmas. I was actually shocked when I discovered this because I could have sworn I had tons.

Sew Sweet

I love the way this card came together. The base cardstock is either Walmart white cardstock or a repurposed card base from Michaels. The patterened paper is a piece of pink stitched scrap paper that Dawn donated to my scrap bin (as if I NEED more scrap paper, thanks Dawn). The ribbon and lace are both from pieces that I found at the Idaho Youth Ranch Bargin Outlet. The image is from SU!. The little pieces of paper at the top of the tag is Japanese origami paper.

Another simple love card. Really really really liking the way the fabric ribbon looks and feels on my projects. I have tons of it though, maybe I should do a giveaway...

Non-Traditional Love Card 6 of 7

I love the way this card is about love but also feels masculine. The patterned paper is from DCWV, ribbon is from Walmart, and the image is from Stampin Up!. One of the things that I do like about Stampin Up! is that they often have stamps that fit perfectly into the punches they carry.

Eek!

Ok I know its a Halloween card and we are going into spring. But here is the thing it was part of a stamp set that I was using. And if I am going to keep myself dedicated to my unofficial goal of using all my stamps at least once this year that means I have to use all the stamps in a set. Not just the ones that are in season.

Non-Traditional Love Card 4 of 7

This card was inspired by a tag book from Hot of the Press. I think it would have looked better if I had dry embossed with my Sizzix the cream colored cardstock first before I turned it into a hanging area for my little heart tags.
